St. Ambrose stopped by Saints

St. Ambrose traveled to Joliet, Ill. on Saturday afternoon to face the University of St. Francis. Two goals a minute apart by the home team was the difference as the Bees fell 3-1 to the Saints at Memorial Stadium. 

Each team had five shots in the first half, with Rory HannonJustin TackettMitchell PetroskyDavid Morsey, and Noah Secor registering shots for St. Ambrose. The best chance for the Bees came in the 43rd minute when Secor forced the Saints keeper into a save. But neither team could find a goal before halftime.

The home team got a two-goal lead early in the second half when Zakhar Shkidchenko scored in the 48th minute, and a minute later, Sergio Fernandez-Arango added another. Ricky Rueda had an opportunity to get a goal back in the 63rd minute, but his shot was saved. Shkidchenko gave the Saints a 3-0 lead in the 72nd minute. SAU would get a goal back in the 76th when Spencer Pyle found Hannon for the score, and the game would end 3-1 to Saint Francis.

Piercarlo Ricossa had two saves in 72 minutes of action. Kai Domagala recorded no saves in 18 minutes in net.

St. Ambrose will be back at home on October 13th to take on IU-Northwest at 7 p.m.
