Biery's late goal gives SAU first conference victory

St. Ambrose came from behind Saturday afternoon to defeat Calumet Saint Joseph, 2-1, at the Saint Vincent's Athletic Complex.

Calumet Saint Joseph opened the scoring through Brendan Melvin in the 19th minute. SAU was able to respond quickly, with Blake Biery scoring his first goal from a Mitchell Petrosky assist in the 31st minute.

During the second half, St. Ambrose recorded 11 shots and was able to get the game-winning goal. Biery scored his second of the day in the 90th minute sealing the win for the Fighting Bees. He was able to get on the end of Rory Hannon's pass, dribble around the keeper, and put the ball into the net.

Piercarlo RicossaDavid Kramer, and Tobi Bierle played the full 90 minutes. St. Ambrose recorded 21 shots and eight corner kicks in the game.

The Bees (4-3-1, 1-3 CCAC) will continue CCAC play at home on Wednesday, September 29th when they play Trinity Christian College at 7 p.m.
