Hannon's goal pushes SAU past Mount Mercy

St. Ambrose remained unbeaten Saturday night, using two second-half goals to get past Mount Mercy, 2-1, at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

Down 1-0 at the break, the Bees (3-0-1) got the tying goal in the 56th minute from David Morsey. The goal was his first of the season. Just three minutes later, senior Rory Hannon netted the game-winner. The Mustangs (2-1) had chances to even up the score in the 80th and 84th minutes, but both attempts were saved by Miguel Bayma to preserve the win.

SAU had opportunities to get on the board at the start of the game, but shots from Morsey, Brady Butler, and Spencer Pyle, were all turned away. Mount Mercy found the back of the net in the 35th minute from Yu Sasaki to take a one-goal lead into halftime.

St. Ambrose recorded nine shots in the game and had a 4 to 1 advantage in corner kicks. Bayma made four saves in the victory. Bayma, Butler, Noah SecorMitchell PetroskyTobi Bierle, and Nathan Lukasik played the full 90.

The Bees will travel to Olivet Nazarene on Wednesday, September 15th at 7 p.m. to begin conference play.
