SAU gets shutout win on Senior Day

Playing in their home finale, St. Ambrose got a Senior Day shutout win on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Bees scored two goals in both halves to defeat Judson University 4-0. SAU recoginzed five seniors - Sam Brown, Juan Diego, Ryan Donnell, Daniel Reinoso, and Carter Steele - before the game.

Justin Tackett had the first chance for St. Ambrose, but his attempt went wide in the 4th minute. Rory Hannon had an opportunity to give the Bees a lead in the 7th minute, but his shot was saved by Brandon Gorka. Piercarlo Ricossa made two saves in five minutes to kept Judson off the board. SAU would eventually find their way around the visitors. Tackett scored from outside the 18-yard box as the keeper came out in the 27th minute for a 1-0 lead. The senior Reinoso would put home a penalty kick in the 29th minute to give St. Ambrose a two-goal lead. Mitchell Petrosky would fire a shot wide in the 37th minute, and Judson would have two chances blocked late in the half.

Ricossa would make an early save in the second half to keep the clean sheet. Both Spencer Pyle and Reinoso had chances to add to the SAU lead, but neither could find the back of the net. St. Ambrose would score their two second half goals just seconds apart. Diego slotted a pass behind the Judson defense, and Hannon was able to finish for the goal in the 85th minute. Almost 20 seconds later, the Bees would strike again as Tackett found Reinoso for the 4-0 lead and win.

The SAU defense of Jose Anchundia, Nathan Lukasik, Jacob Mulvihill, and Noah Secor limited the Eagles to just four shots on goal. Ricossa earned his second shutout victory of the year and had four saves.

The Bees finish their season on a two-game win streak, and were 4-9 overall and 3-9 in the CCAC.
