St. Ambrose defeated by Governors State

The St. Ambrose men's soccer team traveled to Crown Point, Ind. on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Jaguars of Governors State. The Bees fell in the game, 2-1.

St. Ambrose had the first chance to get on the board in the 11th minute, but Ricky Rueda's shot was saved by Luis Ramirez. The Bees got a few more chances in the following 20 minutes, but two shots from Justin Tackett were blocked, a Rueda shot went wide, and Noah Secor had his shot saved. The Jaguars would find the net in the 34th minute with a goal by Agustin Vivas and would take a 1-0 lead to halftime.

Piercarlo Ricossa made two saves early in the second half to keep the Bees within one. Tackett found the tying goal in the 60th minute with a shot to the lower-left corner. St. Ambrose would have a flurry of chances in the 75th minute but shots from Tackett and Rory Hannon were turned away by Ramirez. Governors State would get the winner in the 82nd minute.

Ricossa made nine saves in the loss.

SAU's next game will be at Calumet St. Joseph on March 21st at 11 a.m.
