Trinity Christian downs SAU in overtime

A Wednesday afternoon in Palos Heights, Ill. had an unfortunate and familiar ending for St. Ambrose as they fell in overtime 3-2 to Trinity Christian.

The Bees got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead after Blake Biery scored in the 10th minute. SAU had chances to add to their lead, but a shot from Noah Secor in the 29th minute hit off the post and an attempt from Juan Diego a minute later was saved by Trinity Christian's keeper. The Trolls would find the back on the net in the 40th minute leading to a 1-1 score at halftime.

Just five minutes into the second half, St. Ambrose would take the lead once again. Biery found Secor who found the back of the net for the 2-1 lead. Goalie Piercarlo Ricossa made saves in the 57th and 78th minutes to keep the Bees ahead. But eventually, the Trolls would breakthrough, scoring in the 89th minute to force the game into overtime.

SAU had three attempts on goal in extra time but each attempt was saved by Mathis Mueller. TCC would get the winner from Eli DenBleyker in the 98th minute.

Ricossa made six saves in the loss, and Biery and Diego each had three shot attempts on goal.
