Five Bees earn Heart postseason honors

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced post season honors for men's lacrosse this afternoon. Five Bees were named to the all-conference first and second teams for the 2023-2024 season. Matt Cortopassi and Dawson Dickerson both notched first-team honors. While Eli Hahn, Isaiah Hahn, and Makaile Shaddix earned a spot on the second-team for all-conference awards.

Matt Cortopassi earned first-team attack honors for his 27 goals and 25 assists this season. The senior attacker started all 16 games this season and was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team. The senior from Folsom, Calif. also secured 25 ground balls. Cortopassi notched a hat trick on five different occasions this season for the Bees. In his career, Cortopassi scored 49 goals and tabbed 40 assists. He will graduate with a degree in Sports Management.

Dawson Dickerson notched first-team defense honors. The graduate student started 14 of the 15 games he appeared in this season. The Crozet, Va. native caused 32 turnovers and collected 40 ground balls. The defender also compiled two goals and one assist. Dickerson was a five-year member on the men's lacrosse team. He will earn his Masters in Business Administration as well as his mechanical engineering degree.

Freshman, Eli Hahn, collected second-team LSM honors. The standout freshman hails from Eureka, Ill. He scored nine goals and tabbed six assists on the year. Hahn started in 15 of the 16 games he appeared in this season while writing up 52 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers. He is looking to earn a degree in Sports Management.

Isaiah Hahn was named to second-team midfield. This season Hahn achieved a big milestone with earning 100 career points. In the senior's four-year career, he has complied 67 goals and 51 assists. The Washington Community native collected 51 career ground balls. On senior night, Hahn scored four goals, one being the game winner in overtime to help the Bees upend the Vikings. Hahn is pursuing a degree in Business Marketing.

Makaile Shaddix tabbed second-team attack honors. In his career, he has accumulated over 100 career points by scoring 85 goals and earning 31 assists. This season, the senior was named Heart Offensive Player of the Week for his performance. Shaddix hails from Sacramento, Calif. and collected 69 career ground balls. The attacker started all 16 games for the Bees in the 2023-24 season. Shaddix was graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.

The Bees ended their season in the Heart Tournament Semifinals, losing to no. 2 seeded William Penn. Overall the Bees went 9-7 and 3-2 in conference play.
