St. Ambrose wins last regular season match of the year

The Bees improve to (9-6, 3-2) overall after their last regular season and conference matchup of the year at Clarke University. The Bees defeated the Pride 11-6 after a show start to the game, having only scored one goal in the first fifteen of action. This win helped SAU clinch the no. 3 seed heading into the Heart Conference Tournament.

In the first fifteen minutes of action, goals were few and far in-between. Clarke opened the game with two goals in the period before Makaile Shaddix got the Bees on the board. His goal came 19 seconds before the first horn in an extra many opportunity attempt. St. Ambrose would trail 2-1 at the end of the first quarter.

SAU would tie up the game with a goal from Zach Priami at the start of the second period. The match would stay tied at two all for over eight minutes before the Pride would surge back to take the lead 3-2. Less than a minute later, Ayden Fraelle would notch the game at three all before the Bees would score two more before the halftime break. Headed into halftime, the Bees led 5-3.

The Bees and Pride each scored one goal just after halftime before defense would become key in this match. With the last period of play on the horizon, SAU lead 6-4.

St. Ambrose notched six unanswered goals from Isaiah Hahn, Makaile Shaddix, Zach Priami, Eli Hahn, and Matt Cortopassi. At the 7:01 mark, the Bees led 11-4. Clarke would not give up so easy just as the Bees would not give in. SAU only allowed two more goals throughout the remainder of play but that would not be enough for the Pride. The Bees defeated the Pride 11-6. Both teams go on to make the cut for the conference tournament.

Offesnively, Zach Priami led the way for the Bees with four goals on six shots. Makaile Shaddix and Isaiah Hahn each had two goals. Eli Hahn, Matt Cortopassi, and Ayden Fraelle all scored one apiece for the Bees. Isaiah Hahn grabbed two assists.

Eli Hahn secured four ground balls. Defensively, Dawson Dickerson, collected five caused turnovers.  

Isaac Martinez played 45 minutes in goal for the Bees as he captured four saves. Lachlan Hodge played the remainder of the 15 minutes and collected three saves.

Next, the Bees will play at William Penn for the Heart Conference Tournament semifinal. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Last time the Bees and Statesmen played was on April 6 in Davenport, Iowa. The Statemen defeated the Bees 16-7.
