Defensive battle allowed St. Ambrose a chance in overtime

For Spring Break, the men's lacrosse team headed north to Michigan to start their three game stint. (RV) Siena Heights proved to be a defensive matchup throughout with both teams forcing an overtime period. Siena Heights would carry momentum into the overtime period by scoring the deciding goal within 41 seconds to end the game 8-7. 

St. Ambrose started the scoring in the first two minutes of the game, a goal by Isaiah Hahn got the Bees on the scoreboard. Matt Cortopassi (Ayden Fraelle) tacked on another goal at the 8:07 mark to have the 2-0 lead early. Siena Heights scored two goals within three minutes to tie the game at two all before the start of the second quarter. Throughout the second, both teams scored once to start the second half at an even slate. A huge third period by the Bees saw goals from Isaiah Hahn, Zach Priami, and Joey Curzon to lead 6-5 heading into the final period. The Saints scored twice to force an overtime period for the Bees with the eventual decision 8-7 Siena Heights. 

Matt Cortopassi and Isaiah Hahn each had two goals. Zach Priami, Joey Curzon, and Makaile Shaddix collected one apiece. Ayden Fraelle chipped in two assists with Cortopassi and Hahn each having one. Eli Hahn gathered six ground balls, a tie with Lachlan Hodge for the game high. Zach Priami and Adam Kraft earned three ground balls.

Lachlan Hodge served all 60:41 minutes in goal for the Bees. He collected eight saves and a team high six ground balls. 

SAU looks to get back in the win column and continues their Michigan trip by facing Madonna in Livonia, Mich. Faceoff is slated for 2 p.m. CDT. Madonna is receiving votes to be included in the top 25 national rankings.
