Dominant win over Columbia College

A big third quarter effort by the Bees lift St. Ambrose over Columbia College Tues. evening in Columbia, Mo. Five different Bees joined in on the scoring action in the 14-6 win over the Cougars. Scoring the first three goals of the game, St. Ambrose never looked back. SAU led all throughout the game by starting the first quarter strong with a lead of 3-1 heading into the second period. Going into halftime, the Bees earn a 5-2 lead before a huge third quarter. St. Ambrose scored six goals in the third quarter alone to secure the victory. The last period was all St. Ambrose as well, scoring three of the four goals before the eventual final.

Leading the Fighting Bees was Tyler Yetka with four goals and one groundball. Matt Cortopassi chipped in three goals, four assists, and four groundballs on the evening. Makaile Shaddix also having three goals, two assist, and two groundballs. Zach Priami and Isaiah Hahn each having two goals and one assist to round out the scoring. Zach Priami and Eli Hahn each picked up four groundballs.

Lachlan Hodge earned 12 saves on 18 shots in goal for St. Ambrose.

SAU took advantage of their man up opportunities being successful 75% of the man up attempts. While being very effective getting the ball out their defensive restraining line into their attack, being successful 22 of the 23 attempts.

The Bees will travel to Missouri Baptist on Feb. 22 for a match vs. the Spartans at 3:30 pm. Then, the SAU will host Aquinas on Mar. 2 at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
