St. Ambrose managed just one goal in the first half as they were defeated by Columbia College, 14-6, Friday afternoon in Davenport. The Bees took 33 more shots than the Cougars, but the CC goalie was up to the task making 32 saves.

Columbia jumped out to a 4-0 lead with 4:39 left in the first quarter before Michael Shakerin found Cole Danner for a Bee score with 4:05 on the clock. The Cougars would add two more in the quarter for a 6-1 lead after one. The Bees recorded 21 shots in the second quarter but couldn't find the back of the net. Columbia got two scores in the period to take an 8-1 halftime lead.

SAU looked to have gained some momentum in the third, going on a 3-0 run out of the break. St. Ambrose got goals from Isaiah Hahn, Shakerin, and Danner to make it 8-4 with 6:51 to go in the third. But Columbia quickly answered back, scoring just ten seconds after Danner's score to take a five-goal lead. The Cougars would add two more before Shakerin found Michael Keating for the goal to make it 11-5 heading into the fourth.

The lone scorer for SAU in the fourth was Shakerin, and Columbia got three scores for the 14-6 final.

Shakerin scored twice with three assists, Danner had two goals, Keating had one goal and two assists, and Hahn had one goal and one assist. Jack Wiltrout had a team-high seven ground balls and won 13 faceoffs. Adam Kraft caused three turnovers, while Chris Bridich, Joe Campbell, and Tyler Yetka each caused two. Nolan Hayes was credited with nine saves in the loss.

The Bees will look to rebound with a conference game against Clarke on Saturday, March 25th at 6 p.m.
