St. Ambrose named KCAC Scholar Team

KCAC Release

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Barnes & Noble College are pleased to announce the KCAC Scholar Teams for the 2021-22 school year. The team with the highest grade point average in each sport is designated as the KCAC Scholar Team for that sport. Barnes & Noble College is the official sponsor of KCAC Scholar-Athlete and Scholar Team awards, and is the official campus bookstore and course material provider of the KCAC. The KCAC only recognizes the Scholar Team with the top team grade point average in each sport. At the NAIA level, all teams that reach the organization's scholar team requirements are recognized. Therefore, multiple KCAC schools may be recognized as Scholar Teams in the same sport under the NAIA's requirements. The complete list of NAIA Scholar Teams will be published at a later date.

St. Ambrose earned the honor in Men's Lacrosse by posting a 3.17 team GPA.

The Bees had a stellar 2021-22 season, finishing 10-0 in the KCAC and 14-3 overall. SAU had four first-team all-KCAC players, and four second-team all-conference selections with Nolan Hayes named Player and Defensive Player of the Year, and Michael Shakerin Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Hayes and Shakerin were also 1st team All-Americans, while Dylan Witt was named to the 2nd team.

SAU made it to their second-straight NAIA Invitational in 2022.
