St. Ambrose gets Senior Day win over St. Mary

St. Ambrose recognized a multitude of seniors Saturday night at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex. Devin CaesarCameron Daugherty-GiampaoloChristian DimaanoGavin FlynnJoseph Henderson, Jake Herman, Sam KerrHayden LathamJohnny MoranChris Thomas, and Mason Valley were honored for their efforts in the SAU program. The Bees sent them out on a high note in their home regular-season finale, defeating St. Mary 14-1 in Davenport. With the win, St. Ambrose remains unbeaten in conference play. 

SAU scored five goals in the first quarter and allowed zero shots by the visitors. Kerr, Matt Cortopassi, Daughtery-Giampaolo, Isaiah Hahn, and Makaile Shaddix found the back of the net for the Bees in the first frame. 

Dimaano scored the first two goals in the second quarter giving St. Ambrose a 7-0 lead with 8:57 left until halftime. Alex Tomaszewski scored followed by another goal from Kerr for a nine-goal lead with just over two minutes remaining in the quarter. St. Mary would get on the board with a man-up goal from Chris Felts for a 9-1 halftime score. 

The Bees scored just twice in the third quarter but again didn't allow a shot by the Spires in the frame. Goals from Hunter Northway and Kerr's third of the game put SAU up 11-1 heading into the final frame. 

Kerr, Sam Vita, and Jacob Blair added scores in the fourth for St. Ambrose and the 14-1 win.

Kerr led the way with four goals, while Dimaano assisted on four goals to go along with his two goals. Michael Keating assisted on three, and Michael Shakerin and Jack Wiltrout each assisted on one. 

Northway once again dominated in the faceoff circle going 13-13, and Wiltrout went 5-6. 

Moran, Lachlan Hodges, and Isaac Martinez all spent time in goal, with Moran recording two saves in the win. 

St. Ambrose will travel to Midland University on April 10th for another KCAC match at 3 p.m.
