No. 6 St. Ambrose falls at No. 3 Columbia College

In a matchup of ranked conference foes, the No. 3 Cougars got the better of the No. 6 Bees winning 12-8 Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Mo. SAU is now 3-1 in the KCAC and 6-2 overall while Columbia remains perfect on the year.

Trailing 5-3 heading into the second quarter, the Bees got goals from Michael Shakerin and Justin O'Marrah to even up the game at five. The Cougars would then go on a 3-0 run to end the half. Columbia would tally another goal after the half to push the lead to 9-5. St. Ambrose answered with a man-up goal from Isaiah Hahn and then an unassisted goal from Cameron Daugherty-Giampaolo to cut the deficit to two midway through the third period. SAU would not get any closer as the Cougars closed out the period with three straight goals to take a 12-7 lead. Shakerin would score the lone goal in the fourth to account for the final tally.

Shakerin and O'Marrah had two goals each for the Bees, and Cole Danner had two assists. Hunter Northway won 15 of 23 faceoffs for SAU.

Nolan Hayes made seven saves in the loss, and Johnny Moran made two saves in 15 minutes of action.

The Bees will travel to St. Louis, Mo. for their next contest, taking on Missouri Baptist on Saturday, March 27th at 1 p.m.
