Bees win big against Warriors, Mustangs

After playing their first five games of the 2021 season away from Davenport, and a total of 384 days from the last home game, the St. Ambrose men's lacrosse team returned to St. Vincent's Athletic Complex Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Friday's game saw SAU come away with a 20-5 victory over the Midland Warriors, and the Bees defeated the Morningside Mustangs 17-0 on Saturday.

Game 1

St. Ambrose peppered Midland's goalie on Friday night, producing 73 shots on the night on their way to 20 goals. After Midland cut the lead to one at 3-2 with 4:45 left in the first, SAU scored the next seven goals to push the lead to 10-2. The Bees would go on to score 10 more goals - six in the third and four in the fourth. Michael Shakerin had four goals, and Makaile Shaddix added three. Eight other Bees scored goals. Nolan Hayes had seven saves in net, and Johnny Moran had four.

Game 2

The St. Ambrose defense showed up on Saturday afternoon, shutting out Morningside and limiting them to just six shots. Nolan Hayes and Johnny Moran split time in goal, with Moran making two saves on the day. Jacob Blair and Cameron Daugherty-Giampaolo each scored three goals, and three Bees scored two, and five Bees had one. Hunter Northway dominated the faceoffs, winning 15 of the 20.

St. Ambrose's next game will be against No. 3 Columbia College on Sunday, March 21st with a 2:00 p.m. start.
