SAU wins two on the road

The St. Ambrose men's lacrosse team went on the road and came away with two victories from the weekend. The Bees faced Taylor University on Friday afternoon and won 16-6. SAU took on No. 8 Aquinas College on Saturday morning and came away with an 11-7 victory.

The game against Taylor was similar to the first matchup between the two teams. Matt Madril scored first for the Bees, but the Trojans answered back. SAU then went on a four-goal run for a 5-1 lead. After two late Taylor goals in the first quarter and an early one in the second, St. Ambrose went on another four-goal run to lead 9-4 at the half. Christian Dimaano and Michael Shakerin scored for SAU in the third quarter. The Bees would go on another 4-0 run to start the fourth quarter. Justin O'Marrah added a late goal for the Bees.

Cole Danner led the way with four goals, and Shakerin added three. Madril and O'Marrah added two each. Nolan Hayes had eight saves.

In a matchup between ranked opponents, SAU started Saturday's game off with two goals from Michael Keating. Aquinas would get one back, but Justin O'Marrah scored late in the period to give the Bees a 3-1 after the first. The teams would trade goals in the second as St. Ambrose would take a 7-4 lead at the half. SAU shut down the Aquinas offense in the third, not allowing any goals while scoring two of their own. The teams would trade goals once again in the fourth, with Cole Danner finding the back of the net twice in the quarter for the Bees.

Keating had four goals on the day, and Danner added three. Nolan Hayes was credited with 15 saves.

St. Ambrose's next game will be against Midland University on March 12th at home. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
