Stoetzel, Theis earn top-five finishes at Fyre Lake
Two freshmen - Jacob Stoetzel and Carsen Theis - each shot a 78 to help St. Ambrose to a runner-up finish at Fyre Lake Invitational hosted by Black Hawk College at Fyre Lake Club in Sherrard, Ill., Monday.
Stoetzel was awarded fourth place and Theis was fifth with their 8-over 78s.
Owen Hultman added a top-10 finish, earning a tie for ninth with his 80. Tim Marcum shot an 82 and Dylan McAleer carded an 87.
As a team, SAU shot a 318 to finish second in the 15-team event, just two shots behind ICC, which shot a 316.
A second Bee team placed fourth with a 332.
Jacob Rude led the way with an 81. Hunter Mettille (82), Jacob Lange (93), Mark Schomer (86) and Colin Riggs (87) also competed for St. Ambrose.
The Bees will compete in the Augustana Spring Invite Friday and Saturday at Highland Springs in Rock Island, Ill.
