St. Ambrose claims team title at Tri-State Classic

Leading after Day 1, St. Ambrose men's golf kept pace on Day 2 to claim the Tri-State Classic team title hosted by Loras College at The Meadows in Asbury, Iowa on Sunday and Monday. The Bees had four golfers in the top ten of the tournament to help them win by eight strokes. St. Ambrose finished with a team total of 608. Olivet Nazarene was second with a 616.

Owen Hultman was the highest finisher for SAU, tying for fourth place. He shot a 77 during round one and had an even-par 72 on day two for a 149. Hultman's round two was highlighted by an eagle on No. 9. Dylan McAleer finished one stroke behind Hultman, carding a 150 over the two days. He shot an 80 on day one but carded seven birdies on day two to record a 70. McAleer had a tournament-best eight birdies. Jacob Rude finished in eighth place with a 153. Rude had three birdies on day one to score a 72, and recorded one on day two for an 81. Carsen Theis finished tenth in the classic with a 156 (80-76) and carded three birdies over the two days. Jacob Stoetzel carded three birdies as well and shot a two-day 168 (85-83) to help the Bees finish in first place.

Up next for SAU is the NAIA Midwest Invitational on September 25th and 26th at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
