Stoetzel earns medalist honors at Mount Mercy Fall Invitational

Freshman Jacob Stoetzel paced St. Ambrose Saturday and Sunday at the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational at Hunters Ridge Golf Course. Stoetzel shot a two-day 147 (72-75) to finish in a tie for fifth place.

St. Ambrose "A" team shot a 611 at the invitational to take home fourth place, just three shots out of third. Kirkwood won the event with a score of 575. Outside of Stoetzel, the rest of the members of SAU's "A" team shot better on day two. Dylan McAleer finished two shots behind Stoetzel for a 149 (76-73). After shooting an 80 on day one, Owen Hultman posted a 74 on day two for a 154 total. Carsen Theis shot a 165 (85-80), and Hunter Mettille shot a 76 on day two after an 80 on day one for a 166 total.

The Bees also had a second team compete at the invite, finishing the two-day event with a 636 total. Tim Marcum was the top finisher for the squad, shooting 156 (82-74). Jacob Lange (78-81) and Jacob Rude (79-81) both posted 159. Mark Schomer scored a 164 (80-84), followed by Vinny Messana with a 165 (80-85).

SAU will be at the Loras Golf Tri-State Classic next, which will be held at the Meadows Golf Club in Asbury, Iowa on September 17 & 18.
