McAleer and Theis tie for seventh at Highland Championship

Junior Dylan McAleer and freshman Carsen Theis tied for seventh place as the SAU men's golf team opened their season Friday and Saturday at the Highland Championship in Rock Island, Ill. St. Ambrose fielded four teams in the tournament - SAU "B" took third out of sixteen teams with a 601 and was two shots from second place Illinois College. SAU "A" was sixth, SAU "C" tied for ninth, and SAU "D" came in 14th. Millikin won the event with a two-day total of 577.

McAleer (75-72) and Theis (74-73) both finished with a 147 to tie for seventh. Jacob Lange was the next finisher for St. Ambose shooting a two-day total of 151 (78-73). Owen Hultman (73-79) and Hunter Mettille (74-78) were close behind with 152. Jacob Stoetzel (83-70) and Vinny Messana (80-73) shot 153, and Nathan Unes (77-77) posted a 154.
Others competing for St. Ambrose were Jacob Rude, Mark Schomer, Frank Barges, Colin Riggs, T.J. McDonnell, Luke Haedt, Luke Kahuhu, Bradley Schifeling, Tim Marcum, Chase Mason, Hayden Lee, Josh Vanderploeg, and Luke Siebers.

Next up for SAU is the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational at Hunters Ridge in Marion, Iowa on September 9th and 10th.
