Hole-in-one highlights Neumer's medalist round
Ethan Neumer shot an even-par 71, which included a hole-in-one, to earn individual medalist honors at the Duane Chanay Invitational played at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill., Monday.
Neumer aced the 182-yard, No. 17 hole at Oakwood. That, along with birdies at No. 14 and No. 16, helped him fire a 3-under 33 on the back nine. Neumer took medalist honors by two shots over second-place Luke Lofgren from Black Hawk.
His score helped St. Ambrose finish in a tie for third in the 12-team event.
Reid Calvert, Mark Schomer and Luke Siebers all shot matching 80s to finish in a tie for 16th. Jacob Deitrich came in with an 87. The Bees shot a combined 311.
T.J. McDonnell led a second SAU team to a seventh-place finish with an 81. Joining McDonnell were Evan Baxter (83), Josh Vanderploeg (83), Drew Eden (84) and Justin Endthoff (90).
Illinois Central won the team title with a 305. Black Hawk Gold took second with a 307 while St. Ambrose tied Illinois Valley for third.
