Bio

Jim Kiss joined the St. Ambrose men's basketball coaching staff prior to the 2008-09 season.

As the associate head coach, Kiss is involved in assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting, academic success, player development, scheduling and on-floor coaching. Along with competing at the top of the highly-competitive CCAC, the Bees have also succeeded in the classroom, earning NAIA Scholar-Team status in 15 of the 16 years Kiss has been on staff.

Originally from Geneseo, Ill., Kiss played four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, an NCAA Division II school. While at UMD, the Bulldogs averaged 17 wins per season. He graduated in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Kiss got his coaching start as an assistant at UMD during the 2007-08 campaign before joining St. Ambrose.

Jim's father Mike Kiss '76 and grandfather Don Morris '50 are both members of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Mike accumulated more than 300 wins at Geneseo High School while Don accumulated 491 wins at Rock Island Alleman High School over the course of their coaching careers.

Kiss, also the University's head tennis coach, graduated with his Masters of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose in May 2010. He oversaw all of the athletic department's NAIA compliance efforts from 2010-2021, and most recently served the University as an Application Support Specialist before being named head tennis coach in the fall of 2023.

He currently resides in Bettendorf, Iowa, with his wife Anne and their daughter McKinleigh Jean.
