Spriggs and Dacunda earn all-CCAC recognition

All-CCAC Men's Basketball Team

After leading St. Ambrose back to postseason play, both Will Spriggs and Ignacio Dacunda were recognized as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) announced its postseason men's basketball awards.

Spriggs was named to the all-conference second team and Dacunda earned all-CCAC honorable mention.

Spriggs averaged a team-high 14.1 points per game while shooting better than 51 percent from the floor and better than 83 percent from the line. The senior guard from Jacksonville, Fla., scored in double figures 18 times and hit for 20 points in six games. His season high came against East-West on Nov. 3 when he dropped in 25 in a 75-54 win.

One of the individual highlights of the year came on Jan. 14 when Spriggs became the most recent Bee to score 1000 career points as he hit the milestone in a 75-71 overtime win over Indiana South Bend. Spriggs finished the season with 1,179 career points, tied for 30th on the program's all-time scoring list.

Spriggs also averaged 2.0 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 assists per game.

Dacunda was second to Spriggs in scoring, averaging 11.7 points per contest. The sophomore guard from Concordia, Argentina, scored at least 10 points in 20 games and netted a season-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting in an 82-63 win over Mount Mercy on Nov. 11. He had six games with at least 10 rebounds, including a 16-rebound effort at Saint Xavier on Feb. 21. Dacunda led the team by averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.

Teammate Guillermo Narbona was also recognized, selected to the five-player CCAC All-Freshman Team.

The thrree players helped St. Ambrose qualify for the CCAC Tournament after the Bees missed out on the postseason in each of the previous two seasons.
