St. Ambrose to face Olivet Nazarene in CCAC Tournament quarterfinals
St. Ambrose will begin postseason play Wednesday at Olivet Nazarene in a quarterfinal game of the CCAC Men's Basketball Tournament. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Bees finished the regular season with a 14-14 record, including an 11-9 mark in CCAC play. St. Ambrose tied Saint Xavier for fifth place in the conference, but due to a 64-60 loss to the Cougars, the Bees earned the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
Olivet Nazarene (21-7) finished in a three-way tie for second in the league standings with a 15-5 CCAC record. Based on tiebreakers, Indiana Northwest earned the No. 2 seed, Olivet Nazarene is No. 3 and Indiana South Bend slipped to No. 4.
SAU and ONU split their two regular-season matchups, with each team winning on its home court. The Tigers defeated the Bees 85-70 in Bourbonnais, Ill., on Nov. 28, and St. Ambrose returned the favor with a 92-84 win in Davenport, Iowa, on Jan. 24.
The winner will face the winner of the IU Northwest-St. Francis game in a semifinal Friday. The championship game will be played Monday, Mar. 4.
