Missed opportunities sink Bees in loss to Pride

St. Ambrose had its share of chances Monday night. But whether it was shooting 8-of-16 from the line or surrendering 12 offensive rebounds, 10 of those coming in the second half, the Bees let those opportunities slip away in a 77-75 home loss to Clarke.

In a game that saw neither team hold a lead of more than seven points, SAU trailed virtually the entire second half.

After falling behind 50-43 five minutes into the second half, the Bees made several mini runs but never took the lead.

A 7-of-14 touch from the line and allowing those 10 offensive rebounds to Clarke over the game's final 20 minutes proved too much to overcome.

Andrew Morrissey led St. Ambrose with 21 points and eight rebounds. Jayven Jones scored 14 and Patrick Torrey had 11 giving SAU three players in double figures.

Ignacio Dacunda scored nine points, Will Spriggs finished with seven and Kieran Farrell added five along with eight boards for the Bees.

St. Ambrose, now 1-2 on the year, will open CCAC play Wednesday at Judson.
