Bees fall at Missouri Baptist in first road contest of the season

A game that saw the SAU starters combine to make just 7-of-25 field goals was too much to overcome as St. Ambrose fell at Missouri Baptist 74-62 Saturday afternoon.

The starting five went just 4-for-19 from the field in the first half, helping Missouri Baptist, a team receiving votes in the NAIA top-25 poll, to pull ahead 45-22 at the half.

The deficit was as large as 32 points in the second half. But St. Ambrose battled to the end, ultimately only falling by 12.

The only two Bees to score in double figures came off the bench. Patrick Torrey scored 12 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Amarey Wills scored 11.

Will Spriggs scored eight points and Tyson White netted six. Jayven Jones, Grant Mason, Andrew Morrissey and Ignacio Dacunda each contributed four points.

SAU, now 1-1 on the year, will return home to host Clarke Monday.
