SAU falls to Judson despite five Bees in double figures

Despite five Bees scoring double-digit points, St. Ambrose fell 85-77 at Judson Saturday afternoon.

Tom Kazanecki filled in 17 points, Grant Mason scored 16, Will Spriggs had 13, Jake Friel dropped in 11, and Jake Conerty came off the bench to score 12 but it still wasn't enough to get the Bees past the hot-shooting Eagles.

Judson (11-14, 8-9 CCAC) had their shooting rhythm all game, shooting over 50-percent from the floor and 47-percent from deep.

They also made the Bees pay from the free-throw line, hitting 21-of-23 from the charity stripe.

In a game that saw 11 lead changes and 10 ties, the Fighting Bees battled hard in the first half. Friel hit a three-pointer with a minute remaining in the first half to put the Bees up, but a pair of Judson free throws put the Eagles up one heading into halftime.

Right out of the locker room, Kazanekci hit a mid-range jumper to retake the lead. This would be the last time the Bees would lead, however, as Judson would score six-straight points to reclaim the lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the game.

The Fighting Bees would make a late push to get back into the game, but Judson hit their free throws down the stretch to keep the Bees out of reach.

The road loss moves the Bees to 11-15 overall and 9-11 in the CCAC. St. Ambrose will take a quick break from conference action to host Iowa Wesleyan Thursday.
