SAU's cold shooting leads to loss at No. 24 Marian

St. Ambrose shot only 37 percent from the floor and 27 percent from beyond the arc in falling 76-55 at No. 24 Marian Sunday afternoon.

It was SAU's second loss of the year to the Knights and the team's third loss this season to a nationally-ranked opponent.

The Bee struggles started early as the team connected on just 7-of-24 attempts from the field, including a 1-of-9 mark on threes, in the opening half. That helped the Knights open up a 36-22 lead at the break.

Will Spriggs opened the second half with a 3-pointer to get SAU to within 11 at 36-25 but Marian scored the next four points and led comfortably from there.

Tom Kazanecki led three Bees in double figures with 15 points. Drake Gunn and Jake Conerty each scored 11.

Spriggs dropped in nine points, Jake Friel added five and Dan Rice came off the bench to add four.

Conerty and Grant Mason led the team with six rebounds apiece.

St. Ambrose, which has lost five straight to drop to 4-8 on the year, will return to CCAC play Saturday by hosting Governors State.
