Season ends with loss at Olivet Nazarene

Kaden King rushed for 155 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown on the game's first play from scrimmage, but that wasn't enough as St. Ambrose ended the season with a 47-7 loss at Olivet Nazarene Saturday afternoon.

After the Tigers sent the opening kickoff out of bounds, King gave the Bees a 7-0 lead 10 seconds into the game on his 65-yard scamper.

It was just the start of a strong game for King, who averaged 6.5 yards over his 24 carries. The junior rushed for 149 yards and 155 yards in the final two games of the year.

King accounted for the majority of the offense. Four other backs - Calvin Lee, Jaedyn Price, Jeffery Elms and Nolan Bielskis - combined for just 10 yards on nine attempts.

Joey Sprinkle completed four passes for 22 yards before Jake Ackman finished the game. Kyle Yehling had three receptions for 21 yards while Yemi Ward made one catch.

While St. Ambrose totaled 178 yards and nine first downs, Olivet Nazarene rolled up 446 yards of offense and 24 first downs.

After the Bees' long touchdown to open the scoring, the Tigers marched 80 yards for a game-tying score. ONU (6-4) took the lead for good on a 39-yard field goal late in the first quarter. The Tigers took a 20-7 lead into halftime before breaking things open with a 20-point third quarter. They added a three-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth to end the scoring.

CJ Resto led the defense with 10 total tackles. Jake Strater had nine and Max Gourley and Colin Gudella each had eight. Jarian Dunlap Jr. collected seven tackles and an interception in the loss. Micheal Robinson and Joe Reinhart each recorded five stops.

SAU finished the season 1-9.
