SAU League of Legends - Heart Esports run

by Joey (Notebooke) Foley

St. Ambrose Esports has had an absolutely dominant season for our League of Legends team. Our proud players have gone 4-1 in the HeartEsports regular season conference and tied for first place.

Recently, they have played in the in-person playoffs for HeartEsports traveling to Park University to compete. The Bees won their semifinal match against Culver Stockton 2-0. They unfortunately proceeded to fall to Park University in the final 2-0 to finish second in the postseason tournament.

Shout out to our wonderful players: Ian Naylor (Préy), Michael Cheng (Wave Check), Cooper Alt (Peeta Ward), Troy Buehler (Piglit), as well as yours truly Joey Foley (Notebooke). We also want to congratulate Jordan Pollard (Dragonbeast7) and Jarek Brown (Jeb) for competing in the main season and playing their minds out.

Esports Director Mitchell Patchett speaks on the event: "It was a great honor to compete and do well in the first-ever esports season through our athletic conference. Thanks to everyone in the Heart who took the initiative to add League of Legends. Thank you for taking esports seriously. I'm incredibly proud of our team. I can tell you that our guys fought through more adversity than anyone in the event. Their maturity and perseverance went a long way this season. Well done Bees! Congrats to our regular season co-winners Grand View and to Park University for winning the postseason tournament! The standings show how competitive the league was. I'm excited for its future growth and for our program to compete in Rocket League in the Spring!"

Special thanks to our League of Legends coach Jesse Alcasid and our Director of Esports Mitchell Patchett for traveling down to support our team. Overall, it was an outstanding performance from our players and we look forward to our future competitions!
