St. Ambrose to join Heart of America Conference in Esports

St. Ambrose will join the Heart of America Athletic Conference in Esports for League of Legends and Rocket League, the conference announced today. 

The Heart is adding Esports as an official conference championship sponsored sport beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.

"Esports continues to grow not only across the United States, but globally and the Heart is excited to join that growing trend in the sport of esports, making it the 26th championship sponsored sport in the conference," said Heart Commissioner, Lori Thomas. "We want to welcome all of our full members and associate members to this new chapter of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and we can't wait for the student-athletes to begin competing this fall!"

The following institutions will be competing in the Heart in the following two game titles:

League of Legends: Baker, Central Methodist, Culver-Stockton, Graceland, Park, St. Ambrose,

Rocket League: Baker, Central Methodist, Clarke, Culver-Stockton, Graceland, Grand View, Missouri Valley, St. Ambrose

The Heart League of Legends season will occur in the fall, and the Heart Rocket League season will occur in the spring, with both titles supporting a regular season with a full round-robin schedule and will feature a conference tournament where the top four teams from the regular season will compete in the first-ever Heart Esports League of Legends and Rocket League Conference Tournaments.


The Heart League of Legends Conference Tournament games will feature a single elimination bracket with Best-of-3 matches, while the Heart Rocket League Conference Tournament games will feature a single elimination bracket with Best-of-7 matches.
