Dance Team wins regionals to earn bid to NAIA Championships
St. Ambrose was the only team to score in the 90s at the NAIA Northeast Dance Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich., Friday. And SAU did it twice.
The Bees earned a preliminary-round score of 93.53 and followed that with a 91.87 in the finals to win the regional and earn a bid to the NAIA Competitive Dance Championships. SAU's overall score of 92.29 outdistanced second-place Aquinas, who finished with an overall score of 85.52. St. Francis (Ill.) was third with a score of 84.34. Siena Heights (84.15) and Saint Xavier (80.20) rounded out the top five.
Competing for St. Ambrose were Maddy Barnes, Lexi Crook, Sydnie Gerner-Offermann, Karlee Grenier, Sara Gundacker, Kylee Harper, Morgan Pfohl, Ellie Schilling, Emma Schoonover, Lynleigh Schram and Leah Zeimet.
The 7th annual NAIA Competitive Dance Championships will be Mar. 10-11 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
