SAU Cheer wins NAIA Southwest Qualifier
The SAU Cheer Team earned a bid to the NAIA Competitive Cheer Championships by winning the Southwest Qualifying Group Championship in Oklahoma City, Okla., Saturday.
St. Ambrose had the top two scores of the regional, posting a 95.50 in the prelims and earning a 95.58 in the finals. That gave St. Ambrose an overall score of 95.56.
Dickinson State was the runner up with an overall score of 92.94. Oklahoma City (88.13) finished third.
Competing for St. Ambrose were Kathryn Anderson, CJ Busch, Eliza Dzurisin, McKensie Fortner, Austyn Goodale, Sydnee Horstman, Priscilla Jackson, Jesse Lopez, Antwyon Lowery, Sawyer Mackovitch, Alyssa Oczko, Taye Owten, Catie Pett, Lainy Pierce, Ryan Russo, Savannah Schumacher, Will Smith, Kaiyla Stuckel and Bella Wheeler.
SAU will now prepare for the 7th annual Competitive Cheer National Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich., March 10-11.
