Five Bees honored by CCAC

CCAC baseball awards

St. Ambrose had five players recognized by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) when the league announced its postseason baseball awards. Cooper Huckabone, Hunter Keim and Noah McCreary were all named first team all-conference; Brock Webber was selected to the second team; and Huckabone and Adrian Zietara earned CCAC Gold Gloves.

Huckabone batted .354 with 15 doubles, three triples and 10 home runs. He is currently second in the conference in homers. The senior first baseman from Mount Pleasant, Iowa, scored 56 runs and drove in 37.

Huckabone, also a first team all-CCAC and Gold Glove selection in 2021, committed just two errors in 355 chances to finish with a .994 fielding percentage.

In his first season with the Bees, Keim compiled a 6-1 record with a team-leading 1.76 earned run average out of the bullpen. The right-hander from Rock Island, Ill., recorded three saves and struck out 31 over 30 2/3 innings.

McCreary gave St. Ambrose three first team honorees for the second straight year. The senior second baseman from Davenport, Iowa, led the team with a .360 batting average. He matched Huckabone with 15 doubles and added a triple and five home runs. He collected 38 RBIs and scored 46 runs.

Webber, from Haslet, Texas, received second-team recognition as a designated hitter. He hit .313 with 12 doubles and six homers. Webber drove in a Bee-best 41 runs and scored 29 times.

Zietara earned a CCAC Gold Glove as a right fielder. He finished with a .985 fielding percentage, committing just a single error in 67 chances.

St. Ambrose finished the year with a 25-25-1 record. The Bees were runners-up in the CCAC, compiling a 18-8-1 league mark.
