Bees cruise to 18-1 win over Trojans

St. Ambrose exploded for 18 runs over the first three innings in cruising to an 18-0 win over Trinity International Friday afternoon at NelsonCorp Field in Clinton, Iowa.

The Bees sent nine batters to the plate in scoring five runs in the first, 14 batted in an eight-run second, and 10 more hit as part of a five-run third.

Ten different Bees reached base, seven had at least one hit and five collected multiple hits in the victory shortened to just seven innings.

Cooper Huckabone led the way, going 3-for-3 with a two-run home run. He drove in four and scored three times. Jake Mucha finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Noah McCreary was 2-for-3, drove in three and scored twice.

Brock Webber and Chris McFarland each registered a pair of hits. Weber had an RBI and a run scored and McFarland scored twice.

Mike Pawyza had a three-run single in his only official at bat and later drew a bases-loaded walk as part of a four-RBI day. Adrian Zietara added a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Jalen Avery scored twice, Bryce Vincent scored once and drove in one, Logan Rose added a run scored, and Nate Villagomez brought in one.

The offensive outburst made for a relatively easy afternoon for three Bee pitchers. Conor O'Hara earned the win with five scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven. Nick Hernandez and Jack Golenzer each pitched a single inning.

St. Ambrose (21-23, 16-8 CCAC) will head to Trinity International to play a doubleheader Saturday.
