Michaela Pieroni, Jackson Callahan and Jack Reemtsma were each named to the 2021 Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages.

The three Bees represent District 3, which includes NAIA colleges from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. They now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Team ballot, where first- and second-team All-America honorees will be selected.

Pieroni, from Crystal Lake, Ill., wrapped up her sophomore season by earning All-American honors in both cross country and on the track. She finished 26th at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, the best finish by a Bee in the event, and took eighth in the 5000-meter run at the NAIA Indoor National Championships to become the first All-American distance runner in program history. Pieroni is majoring in Human Performance & Fitness at St. Ambrose.

Callahan, from Bettendorf, Iowa, was the CCAC champion in the javelin with a throw of 52.24 meters. He also competed in the event at the Drake Relays. Callahan graduated in the spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Reemtsma, also from Bettendorf, Iowa, finished his career this spring as a four-time All-American. He was named the CCAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the conference championships after winning both the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash. Reemtsma is working on his Master's in Organizational Leadership at St. Ambrose.
