Bees head to Topeka, Kan., for the Washburn Open

On Jan. 30-31, some of the Fighting Bees competed at the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan. 

Starting off on the men's team, Dylan Grandon broke the indoor 800m school record, hitting the A standard with a time of 1:51.52 to place fifth. Joe Reinhart received the B standard in the shot put with a mark of 16.13m and placed seventh. 

Other individuals who ran at the meet included Kaizer Riley, Keagan Erickson, and JaQuarion Lewis in the 60m preliminaries (7.10, 7.21, 7.29). Elijah House competed in the 800m, posting a time of 1:54.50. Kaizer Riley ran the 60m dash (7.10), Chris Miserendino ran the mile (4:19.82), and Brady Belz competed in the 60m hurdle preliminaries (8.52).

A 4x400m team consisting of Riley, Jackson Baedke, Jatzyel Hernandez, and Grandon ran a time of 3:20.79.

In the field events, Robert Lee jumped 6.20m, and Shawn Harris jumped 6.09m in the long jump.

For the SAU women, Claire O'Melia ran in the 60m preliminaries and came in witth a time of 7.87. In the 600m, Kaylee Mowen and Danielle Moore ran times of 1:31.39 and 1:32.68. Mowen and Moore proceeded to run the 800m with times of 2:23.77 and 2:26.46.

Maurina Fahrenkrug PRd in the 3k with a time of 10:52.27. Allison Hein ran in the 5k, placing 26th with a time of 19:10 coming off of a recent injury.

Tosin Oshin threw the shot put a mark of 10.42m.

Next week is the SAU Tune Up hosted by St Ambrose on Saturday, Feb. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. in the WRC!
