St. Ambrose takes down Simpson

The St. Ambrose women's tennis team earned their third win of the spring Thursday afternoon, when they defeated Simpson 7-2. Everyone that played for the Bees won at least one match.

The Bees got off to a good start in doubles, winning two out of the three matches. Paige Owens and Jenna Smithmeyer won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Kate Jones and Sarah Baxter won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

SAU would sustain the momentum in singles play, winning five out of the six matches there. At No. 1 singles, Julia Turek won 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. Paige Bily won 6-3, 0-6, 10-6 at No. 2 singles. Owens won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, Jones won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, and Audrey Pender won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

The Bees are in action next when they host Central College on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill.
