Bees fall to Monmouth, Loras

St. Ambrose women's tennis dropped matches to Monmouth and Loras over the weekend. At Monmouth on Friday, SAU lost 6-3, and fell to Loras at home Saturday morning, 6-1.

Paige Owens and Audrey Pender provided the singles points for the Bees against Monmouth Friday afternoon at the MC Tennis Courts. Owens won her match at No. 5 singles 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-6. Pender picked up a point at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Kate Jones and Sarah Baxter picked up a doubles point for St. Ambrose with an 8-6 win. Julia Turek, Jenna Smithmeyer, Jones, and Alison Hanson fell in their singles matches. Turek/Smithmeyer and Hanson/Owens dropped their doubles matches for the 6-3 final.

Against Loras Saturday morning in Davenport, Owens was the lone Bee to pick up a point. She won her No. 5 singles match 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. Pender was close to getting another point for SAU, but she dropped her match at No. 6 singles 6-4, 1-6, 6-10. Turek/Smithmeyer were close at No. 1 doubles but fell 5-7. Hanson/Owens at No. 2 doubles and Jones/Baxter at No. 3 were unable to get past the Duhawks. Turek, Smithmeyer, Jones, and Hanson fell in their singles contests for the 6-1 final.

The Bees will be back at home on Sunday, September 17 to take on North Park at noon.
