Bees get third CCAC win with comeback victory over Wolves

St. Ambrose shook off a bit of a slow start to post a 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 home win over Cardinal Stritch Tuesday night. The victory moved the Bees to 3-1 in the CCAC.

SAU had just six kills along with six hitting errors in the opening set. But over the final three sets, the Bees put down 28 total kills against just 10 errors, good for a .254 hitting percentage.

The Bee defense forced 36 Wolves' hitting errors as Cardinal Stritch (2-2, 1-2 CCAC) hit at a .016 clip. Behind five solo blocks and a pair of block assists from Nick Fox, St. Ambrose totaled nine solo and 12 block assists in the win.

"What a great win for our boys tonight," SAU head coach Ray Green said. "Despite a slow start, we stayed focused on passing and defense. We won a lot of the long rallies with stellar defensive moves. I'm very excited that we continue to progress each week."

Along with the strong defensive showing, Fox led the team with 12 kills. Colin Teresi had seven, Jon Guch and Dan Rice each finished with five and Mikolaj Zielonka added three. Cael Anderson and Dillon Markley were each credited with one kill.

Ethan Chausse led the Bees with 21 assists. Along with three aces, Markley also added five assists. Richard Reed led all players with 11 digs. Chausse picked up seven. Rice recorded six total blocks in the win.

St. Ambrose, now 3-4 overall, will compete in four matches at the Jamestown Invitational Friday and Saturday.
