Bees begin fall season with loss at Loras
St. Ambrose opened its 2021 fall season with a competitive 7-2 loss at Loras Wednesday afternoon. The Bees took one singles match and one doubles match.
Brian Lelm got the lone singles win for SAU. He won his match at No. 1 by a 6-3, 6-0 score. Jack Schieferdecker was a hard-luck loser at No. 2 singles, falling 7-5, 6-4. James Boustead dropped his match at No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, the No. 3 team of Matt Zuccato and Connor Leibforth picked up an 8-6 victory. The team of Schieferdecker and Caleb Hoffman fell 8-5 at No. 2.
St. Ambrose will play its home opener Saturday. The Bees will host Dubuque at 9 a.m. before battling Simpson at 12:30.
