
Five Bees named to all-conference team
Dylan McAleer, Colin Riggs and Carsen Theis were named first team all-conference, and Griffin Smits and Jacob Stoetzel were named to the second team, as the CCAC announced its postseason men's golf awards.
The awards come on the heels of St. Ambrose winning its first CCAC Championship. It also marked the fourth straight year multiple Bees were named to the all-conference team.
McAleer, the 2022 CCAC Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-conference choice in both 2023 and 2024, earned medalist honors at the CCAC Championships, firing rounds of 73-78-78 for a 229. He also earned all-tournament honors after placing third at the Mustang Fall Championships. The senior from DeWitt, Iowa, is averaging a 77.13 over 23 rounds this year. He has posted a total of five top-five finishes.
Riggs has seven top-20 showings with top-10 finishes in the team's two most recent tournaments. He tied for fifth at the Cardinal Classic before sharing sixth place at the CCAC Championships. Riggs, a graduate student from Ankeny, Iowa, is averaging a 77.00 over 23 rounds.
Theis placed fifth at the Duhawk Spring Invitational and tied for seventh at the Cardinal Classic. The sophomore from Grimes, Iowa, is averaging a 77.71 over 17 rounds.
Smits took fourth at the CCAC Championships in his best finish of the year. Through 18 rounds, the junior from Cherry Valley, Ill., is averaging a 79.44.
Stoetzel, the 2024 CCAC Freshman of the Year, is averaging a 78.31 through 16 rounds. The sophomore from Mokena, Ill., earned first-team recognition a year ago.
St. Ambrose will serve as host of the NAIA Men's Golf Championships at TPC Deere Run, which begins play next Tuesday.
